Flora & Fauna

The Wild Garden is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. We’ve listed below some of the things you may see but it is not an exhaustive list. You may well spot something different ! Take a look at the lists below of some of the birds, flowers, trees and animals that we are aware of ….

Trees

The 12 acres of the Wild Garden is home to a wide variety of trees. A full audit was undertaken when the gardens came under charitable ownership and further audits are regularly taken to check on the health and wellbeing of those trees. The table below lists the 38 different species that can be found within the garden.

Birds

We get numerous winged visitors to the garden. Apart from the common garden birds (Robin, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Sparrow etc.), we also witness others birds, such as –

      • Grey Heron
      • Jay
      • Nuthatch

In addition, you can likely see some waterfowl – Mallard, Moorhen or Coot amongst others.

Animals

Less likely to see than some of the birds and flora but we know the gardens get visited by

      • Badger (There is an active sett in the garden)
      • Fox
      • Muntjac

However, you’re more than likely to witness grey squirrels as they are in abundance !
