Shipton Open Gardens

In Support of The Wychwood Wild Garden

Sunday 3rd July 2pm to 5pm

A rare opportunity to view four delightful gardens surrounding Shipton Court and raise funds for the upkeep of the Wychwood Wild Garden, followed by the chance to purchase a cup of tea and piece of cake in the conservatory at Hunters Lodge on the High Street. Nearest postcode OX7 6DG

The garden at Hunters Lodge is split into different areas including formal lawns with borders of annuals, including grapevines, fig and pineapple!  A pool area with summerhouse, patios with planters and pots, an orchard with a rare medlar tree, formal rose gardens and greenhouse.

Across the High Street the Summerhouse is a garden in 3 parts; beautiful water gardens with planted terraces, a restored rose garden and feature areas of planting around the house.

At the top end of the water garden we find Mere Folly, a multi-level garden of lawns, mixed borders and clipped evergreens incorporating the spring fed natural swimming pool and the old croquet lawn for the Court.

Just a short walk up Plum Lane and at the bottom of the Court garden we find Court Cottage with the Dovecote and Estate Office; a short flight of steps brings you down into a delightful secret garden with stone walls, little steps, shrubs and tubs.

The route will be clearly marked and entry can be through any of the four gardens where volunteers will be selling tickets at £5.00 per adult (under 12 years are free) to cover entry into all of the 4 properties.  Many of the paths around the gardens are uneven so we ask you to be careful when walking around, there are water gardens, ponds and a swimming pool in the gardens so we ask you to keep an eye on your family group and be aware of deep water.

Parking is available at the Shipton cricket club on the High Street. Please follow the signs.

Teas and Cake are available in the conservatory at Hunters Lodge.

All proceeds to the Wychwood Wild Garden.
