Help preserve a legacy for the Wychwoods

The Wild Garden is a beautiful woodland and garden, close to the centre of Shipton under Wychwood in Oxfordshire. Its network of paths through 12 acres of woods and around ponds is the home to wild life and many breeds of ducks and birds. The residents of the Wychwoods have the opportunity to purchase the Wild Garden for enjoyment and leisure for themselves and for visitors. To preserve and to have access to this wonderful environment we need to raise an initial amount of £70,000 and an annual sum of £5,000 to £7,000.

Fundraising Sale in Milton Village Hall
7-9pm - in aid of the Wychwood Wild Garden Crafts, clothes, lingerie, jewellery,
cosmetics, gift-wrap, cards, cake stall, bric-a-brac and raffle.

Saturday 26th June

Open Gardens in Shipton
Nine gardens will be open 1pm to 5pm with tea and refreshments available.
One Passport covers all gardens, adults £8.00 each, children free.

Songs for the Wildwood at the New Beaconsfield Hall, Shipton.

News

We have now been registered as a Charity, Registration Number 1133334, so we can accept CAF cheques as well as claim back tax on any donations and gifts that at are given under GiftAid.

Both Shipton and Milton Parish Councils have agreed to support us financially, moving us closer to achieving the target for our annual running costs.

We are currently starting to develop the detailed management plan for the Wild Garden, if you have skill and expertise in woodland management and historic landscaping we would very much like to hear from you. Please use the Contact Page to send us an email.

Our Village Meetings

The village meetings held in October and December 2009 in Shipton, Milton and Ascott attracted in total over 180 local residents who came to hear more about the project and give us support and feedback. We are using the feedback to guide the next stages of the project.

The plan is to acquire the Wild Garden in 2010. After carrying out essential work we hope to open the garden to the public late 2010 or early 2011.

There will be no restrictions on access at any time, we will only be asking visitors to respect the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful space and to keep children and dogs under supervision and control.

A management committee is being established which will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Wild Garden with the active support of the Parish Council and the local Shipton Volunteers.

Shipton-under-Wychwood Wild Garden and Woods is a company limited by guarantee, set up in September 2009 with the active support and close cooperation of the Shipton Parish Council, in order to acquire and manage the Wild Garden. The key aims of the company are to achieve public access to the Wild Garden, maintain and conserve its environment and to provide valuable educational resources. The company is a charity, Registration Number 1133334.
